Japanese Hawker 大众烧肉

Located in a back alley near Plaza Faber, Taman Desa, this restaurant is one rare open-aired hawker style japanese bbq restaurant. It's tucked in a back alley between two really old buildings which has made it aesthetically....interesting!

(im apologise for the very bad quality photos, all taken from my phone)

They have very limited indoor seats, but a huge open space outdoor to throw tables!

The kitchen.

I love brickworks! who doesnt!?

Burning charcoal!!

Jian

My sister and I.
We both look funny.

Peas :)

Genghis Khan (Marinated lamb pot)

Pork Belly.
This is one of my favourite!

Pork Tongue.
Funny how when my sister wanted to order pork tongue, I said...
"pork tongue? so we'll be kissing a pig?"
Never mind about that, the pork tongue was indeed very chewy and tasted really good.

Cold Plate : Pork Stomach!
Very appetising! Jian loves this dish alot!
Beef steak!
This was a little disappointing because when it comes to eating beef, Jian and the brother-in-law is very fussy about it. So we did not bothering order this during our second visit.

do not spot my tummy. okay you just did.

Daryl Boy!

He and his cheekiness.

Mummy, Daryl and Daryls mummy

Jian and I.

my newphew is busy playing with my mum's nose and my sister busy playing with daryl's hair.
and tungyung busy playing with.. his phone!

Bill came up to about 40++ per person (with beer)
Another plus point to this restaurant is, you dont get very oily and smelly hair after all the BBQ!!
At least not as bad compared to indoor korean restaurants.

We definitely will revisit this place again.

Of petals and leaves

Gardening was never in my dictionary. It's not that I dont like it, but the patience behind gardening has tested me well, and proven how I am not suitable to take care of plants - at most time, i would say, i'd rather take care of another dog. No joke.

Remember when I was young I attempted planting beans and they end up dead because they lack water. Few years later I attempted cactus and they ended up soggy because I water them every single day! No luck.

Years later, when I was in Melbourne, I went to Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show with my mum in Royal Botanic Gardens, I was tempted to buy two pots of carnation home. It was sprouted carnation (still baby) and I told my mum "You'll see it blooming the next time you come (in 3 months time)"
Unfortunately the heavy wind on the balcony killed them. Also, I didnt bother buying fertilisers (they come in really huge pack, and they stinks!) So my poor carnation pot turned out to be an ash tray! pfft.

Anyway, Ive decided to put in more effort when it comes to gardening at home.
My effort started from this :
Yen : Wei pass me that pot of plants.
Me : NO! cant you see its all soil and my holy hands cant touch them!

to this :
Me : I want to build a roof for my flowers! It's dying of intense sunshine!
Everyone else : YOU crazy ah!???

Well, here is my garden family :)
I dont know the names of the flowers! I guess im just gonna name them myself.
This is my competition pot with my sister's
My sister's competition pot

We both spontaneously came out with a competition in the nursery, so we will each have to choose a pot of plant and whoever's plant die first loose :)

She bet mine will die first. In fact, yes! The colors on mine started fading, and the petals started falling off.
That was the reason why I started making a roof because these flowers are semi-indoors and they do not like  the sun very much! (more on that later)

My hanging pots.....

We found some seeds from the hanging pots and started planting both of them in our "nursery"
(will update on that when they start sprouting!)
I am so excited I cant wait to see them sprout!

Note : in order for the seeds to be mature enough, you either take them when they're dry or you dry them under the sun before you plant them into pots! (vary from plants to plants)

This is our lavender-like plant and my favourite among all of them!
It (the above) requires very little attention!! I would say, we paid the least attention to this pot among the rest.
No need for roof. It can withstand really heavy rain and still blooms. The best part? My favourite color of course :)

New home :)

Our vege garden .......

Tumeric

Sprouting pumpkin!

Spring Onion!

My sister giving her basil a new home

Basil :)
Our sprouted kangkung (Ipomoea Aquatica)
Giving the kangkung a new home! And a curious dog!

And lastly...
Our cactus got transferred to a bigger pot too!

If you're wondering... this was the 12 pots of cactus my cousins bought from cameron highlands about 3 years back!
They did not grow until transferred to a bigger pot!

 Building a roof.....
You will need :
1) Reasonably thick wood
2) Gardening sun screen (The black net-like piece to cover your plants)
This normally comes in % rating. Mine is 70% which means the flower only receives 30% of sunlight!
3) Saw
4) Hammer
5) Nails
6) Glue (not super-glu. I got mine from my cousin who got it from his furniture factory!)

I told jian how i wanted the roof to be like and he was the engineer and the contractor!
lol

the boyfriend helping me build roof for my flowers! how nice :D

Lots of nailing, lots of gluing too!!

And finally, the first later was done! (2 1/2  ft tall)

Thats the both of us trying pretty hard!

Second layer (3ft tall)

And finally, a mini roof for the flowers! No more collecting them inside when it rains :)

They're just nice to hang my pots too!

I am starting to love gardening so much!
It has almost become my daily morning & evening routines :)

Now, I really cant wait to see the sprouted flowers!
Give them a few more days.......

Nail Art

"Nail arts are great! They test your patience!"
I've been changing my nails almost twice every week due to procrastination.
If there's one thing I'll do when I dont feel like touching my assignments - it would be painting my nails!

Funny how my groupmates went...
"You know, sometimes I wish im a girl.. So when you're bored, you do this"

So here you go, some simple DIY nailart anyone can achieve by themselves :)

Pastel coloured with polka dots

Simple French

Turquoise with white stripes

Pink & Black (some parts are stick-ons)

Green with  diagonal white Stripes!

Tribal Art (This was directly drawn onto the green stripes after i got bored of them)

Bow art (This was actually done by Jian!)

Black Border

Decided to paint my nails based on the colors i miss - the sun and the sea!

Random swirls

Vintage rose (This was done by my sister)

Note : I dont spend alot of money on my nail polishes! (No expensive nail colors) They aren't meant for long-term use anyway.

My nail palette! The squeezed-out paints are for drawing purposes!

Still trying to improve my skills!
